Wow. Geez. I hadn't heard that you broke BOTH of your legs! ~ That is THE project that I say I'm going to do when I break both my legs... however, modern medicine wouldn't allow that. C had his hip replaced and was walking within days. So, it's best to do it w/o added drama and pain. I'm VERY impressed.

That will be cool. I'm Easter Bunny-ing. I actually have everything very organized but got distracted while trying to find a podcast/audio book to listen to while filling baskets and making fun tags. S(17) didn't come home until midnight. I had to wait ... she is hard to surprise. Although I did get her on the 1st with the fake grapes in the ziplock bag at lunch. :)

C (an erstwhile curmudgeon) was out of town for April Fools' Day ... I had Lots of fun. You can trust me, really. :]

The cottage cheese in the milk was a good trick. They didn't "get" it until the next morning. I'm still laughing about it. They are too. Once one of them poured the lumpy milk on their cereal, checked the smell, checked the expiration date, and yelled at me, they just waited for the next kid to. No one told anyone. The timing of breakfast/after school snack was perfect. Very funny.

I can almost park in the Garage!!! Hung bikes, moved type trays (?!), tie-dye gunk, boxes for DI, pool toys, camping hullabaloo, fixed an antique-ish chair, dealt with tools, sorted 30+ egg cartons for pal with chickens, fired up the shop-vac.
Anyone available to help me move a cast iron bathtub? Better yet: Buy it!

I've heard that the Garage is a very important room in the house. It is often neglected but a lot of time is spent there. That is the case here -- especially since last February-April ('08) when +10 years of monkey business landed there. (We've listed some things on Craig's List to sell. It takes work+time to sell stuff, especially the odd antiques.)

I am passionate about "landing" our entire house before school starts. Make it work for everyone and make everyone work to keep it neat and tidy. Recently I've visited some friends, every single one of them has an immaculate house, these are creative people with busy lives. Every single room of my house is a mess. Today we are staying in until parts (hopefully many parts) of this place SHINE. Officer Mom is on duty, armed with Zipfizz. Look out.

Later in the day... spoke to C about this tub. If we move it to the other side I will indeed be able to park in the garage. (Has it been over a year?) Anyway, I thought we could save all 350 pounds of it for the pavilion/studio I would like to build someday OR if it doesn't sell by December we could donate it to Provo's Habitat for Humanity's ReStore ...deduct it from our taxes.

Recently while cleaning the van I came across this scene.

It is breathtaking in its completeness, elegance, range of textures and random silliness. Silly is a power word.

This image tells a story of the van, the children who ride in it, the grit of childhood -- o.k. perhaps that is going a little over the top...

M (5) loves to undress her dolls--now she is just starting to dress them. I'm not sure if Barbie's negligee is intentional or not.

The composition struck me. Not one item was unnecessary.

The art is from K's sketchbook. I was teaching him that he can go back into his books and by adding more, in this case color, the drawing becomes more finished and interesting. He seems to have hundreds of sketchbooks floating around from the last 13 years of his life. Surprisingly they are not all neat and tidy, labeled and dusty on a shelf. There is no time frame. He might have done this drawing when he was 5, maybe 5 plus. He is a wonderful artist.

N is for Nina Simone! Ain't Got No...I've Got Life

While scooting around the web on my way to my cassoulet recipe on my computer I came across this Nina Simone video. Really dig it. Want to teach the song to my kids so that when they are all grown up and feeling blue they can sing it. Not so sure the line about "bobbies" would be right for a Primary Program, no matter how straight face it is sung. Love that.
