1977-1985
Here is what I wrote to him so that I could join the Camp Beaverbrook group:
Hi "Flash" !
• I remember a lot about Camp Beaverbrook, Camp Beaverbrook, Camp Beaverbrook! Hey! My last counselor there was "Trinket." The last year I attended was the summer after my 5th grade year, 1976. I invited my friend Poppy D avis [letter separated so she can't find this when she goggles her name... I already have. There are actually lots of P--D-- around.] to join me--she promptly ditched me when camp started. I learned that I can always make new friends.
• I remember the Browns and even the orientation meeting I went to many years before that with my mother in Orinda. At camp Mrs. Brown (Niha) took me aside once and sweetly sang just to me! She taught me "Five Foot Two."
• I remember swimming in the scary lake/pool.
• My brother (David Meyer) also went for several years. We figured it out once that we went for 4 or 5 years. I started going to "sleep-away" camps when I was very young.
• In one album I have letters that my family sent me. I also remember my Grandma Ream's care packages! That I had to share with my entire tent, which was cool. She sent a ton of pink puffed rice balls... cleverly packed so only a few showed on top, so I didn't have to share with All the girls!
• If that isn't enough proof I could make a video of my kids singing a best-of-Beaverbrook medley, including such memorable hits as, "Oh Chester," "Madeline Catalina," and "Down By the Old Mill Stream." Yes, I call them Beaverbods when I wake them up... as in, "Wakey, wakey Beaverbods!"
