don't get it

Crazy. Right to marry. Probably shouldn't post it here. Asking for trouble, but I'm so tired. Seems like the public is against this, really. Why don't people look for New solutions? What is up with pushing ideas and letting people form/have their own? Why can one group be so sure they are so right that everyone else is completely wrong? What does each side need? Where can they meet? Why does TAAASha Cook say, "ToMOREouw." I don't get it.

This post is meant to explain to some family/friends/neighbors why I'm voting for Obama.

Dear Friends,

My pal Zina B. sent me an odd link to a CNN video of Peruvian Shamans supporting Obama. This reinforces the fact many around the world are looking to America for change towards a more diplomatic approach to the many issues that face our planet, not just our neighborhoods. Truly, it is an odd endorsement.

Today I saw/heard 2 other endorsements for Barack Obama. One is Ralph Stanley, the legendary bluegrass musician. The other is Ron Howard (actor/director). They are both, calm, reasoned, serious about issues and do not attack McCain or Palin. While light hearted, they are dignified. They present facts.

These endorsements only state a case, with clarity -- actors/musicians are mere people. I believe Pa (Andy Griffith) is right, "People are funny. Sometimes change scares 'em. They'd rather keep doing the same ol' thing that's been messing them up than change to the thing that could help them."

As puzzling as I find a vote for the Republicans this year, after some of the worst 8 in the history of the United States of American, (ending with a Republican sponsored $700 Billion bailout of mostly corporations) some find my support for Obama equally unbelievable.

I appreciate his calm, steady and conservative demeanor, his emphasis on personal responsibility, his devotion to his family, his incredible story and many accomplishments, his dignity. His campaign has been very well managed. He is not calling McCain a communist, socialist, or linking him to fringe associates, or Palin's experience or family--all of which call into question a favorable view of the Republican ticket in 2008. ... There you have it: My reasons.

C is for Chill.

I don't think these pictures get the message out, enough. This is an unusual ice cream truck. Here is a quote from the CCA alumni website:
Dessert was served from the lively Tactical Ice Cream Unit, a working ice cream truck and interactive space for art and activism created by the Center for Tactical Magic (co-founded by alumnus Aaron Gach). Along with free ice cream, participants had their choice of free propaganda on such topics as alternative economic systems or the mass media.

Our pal Heidi J was telling me about a friend of hers that was indeed kidnapped by an ice cream truck! In Thailand (?) -- the mother heard her daughter's screams and took off after the truck, along with her friends, all in cars. They were able to rescue the girl! Way to go book club ladies!

Now Heidi J's friend, who lives in Utah County and has children of her own, rounds up all the children on her block and shoves them sweetly into her back yard when the ice cream truck comes by. Then she breaks out the ice cream!

S thinks ice cream truck drivers are all pedophiles. Hmmm. Big statement but perhaps there is some truth to it. They are all odd looking men. And why don't they do something else for a living? Why are the trucks so big? I remember that they used to be smaller. Why is the ice cream so expensive?

This truck made a lot of sense -- free ice cream and blatant propaganda in Oakland, CA. Anarchy and Gender Issues are served with ice cream sandwiches and popsicles. I don't know if the police man/ice cream truck driver authority figure usually sells the stuff, it was for the CCAC (now CCA) alumni reunion.
