Y is for Yuck. Yuck, not yuk.

If you want some of your own, you need to go to Village Inn in SLC. Order the "chicken ranchero."

For this piece of culinary heaven you'll need to go the OakCrest Inn in Spanish Fork, Utah.

This is the, umm, oystershellblahonionburger. It tasted as bad as it looks. Nope. That bun isn't hand formed and fresh. It was smashed and stale. Another masterpiece available at Village Inn, and, it is expensive.

I've wanted to post about Valerie Phillips, food editor of the Deseret News ... her choice of articles for olympic food suggestions are brilliant. The article is called (oh so cleverly) "Gaming for anything: Dishes inspired by Olympic sports." I don't know how she does it. Here is the first recipe description, "Crostini Sleds: These crostini resemble people flying head first down a hill on a tiny sled, as happens in the skeleton event. Let them fly right onto a platter for chowing while watching the games." Mmm-mmm. Let's go chow, a sled.

U is for The U, of U.

Favorite parts of U of U tour: Nice, healthy people, BEAUTIFUL campus (No orange brick?), Encouraging advisor (we think she gets a kickback per yng woman who chooses engineering as a major), Bennion Center for Service (why isn't that @ BYU? Hmm), Parade of Mormon Missionaries--they were probably just going to eat/a conference/both, Outdoor orientation option, the Library, Red Sweatpants!

Oop! I forgot to mention the awesome University of Utah FOOTBALL team, the dorms built for the Olympics, the field-house with Spin classes (free to students), A DOG (gasp!) on Campus!, the president's office--his portrait is so wonderful!, Study Abroad/Honors options AND! The t-shirt of mini U of U logos in the shape of a peace sign.

Eagle Mtn. works on city image Print E-mail
Caleb Warnock - DAILY HERALD

In an effort to change Eagle Mountain's public image, council members are being asked not to commit any crimes.

At a recent retreat, City Council members spent a day discussing what the city's top priorities should be. Among those were changing the city's reputation, tarnished by a long line of mayors and council members who have very publicly gotten in trouble with the law.

Councilman David Lifferth, who is the city's most senior council member, having served since July 2005, had one piece of advice for the other members, many of whom were elected only in January.

"Don't anybody commit any crimes," he told the council. Lifferth posted his comment as part of his council retreat notes on his blog at DavidLifferth.com, and confirmed the quotes to the Daily Herald in an interview.

Unfortunately, his advice was no joke, he said.
