A note to Julie T. re: hosiery
Yesterday at Sundance I saw a woman wearing tights, which is a good thing these days. {I don't get the pasty leg look, with dress clothes. AND! I DON'T GET WHY hosiery manufacturers don't make comfortable, stay-up-able tights! I get why women don't wear them...} One leg was striped and the other polka-dotted. :) At first I thought, now that would be uncomfortable, worth complaining about, then I realized [duh.] they were MADE that way. Then I thought of you, your girls, my girls and me needing some. Later, at a pharmacy, I spotted an older woman in sheer white tights with a lattice/checked[?] pattern on them. Very cool. Looked great with her cream (cashmere?) skirt and off white red flats.

don't get it
Crazy. Right to marry. Probably shouldn't post it here. Asking for trouble, but I'm so tired. Seems like the public is against this, really. Why don't people look for New solutions? What is up with pushing ideas and letting people form/have their own? Why can one group be so sure they are so right that everyone else is completely wrong? What does each side need? Where can they meet? Why does TAAASha Cook say, "ToMOREouw." I don't get it.

H is for big Hats!

S is ready for the races at Ascot.

C and Kent C.

Thought you might like to see the hats that Nathan and Margo decorated 2 Friday nights ago in Park City at the Kimball Art Center. We figured it out once we got home: two paper bags rolled, sculpted together into a hat. The hat-lady goes to events with hats already assembled and painted. The children have a bunch of goodies to choose from: googly eyes+pompoms+feathers+beads+stickers+glue+big hat base = fun. I wish I could find her card.
We went to see our pal Kent Christensen's very sweet paintings. Just looking at the dark chocolates made my head ache. Poor ol' pitiful me. The rice crispy treats? They were ok. :) N and M LOVED them all! Wait, they WANT them all! I wouldn't mind a few too, remind me of the sweet life.

S is for Spectacular Sofa.

Ohhh, what a sad sofa. Stuffing hanging out. Cotton was stained, ripped and worn out. Cushions skushed to flat. Sniffle. It actually looked worse in person, or in sofa. We bought it about 9 years ago for the other *$3£%#5^!7*?¡ house. My recent purge almost included this. The question was should it stay or should it go...

As EB White might have said, "That is some sofa."

It is staying. This is not the most comfy couch, but it is worth something. Also, there really isn't a place for it, perhaps someday it will be in one of the children's homes.
When the upholsterer gave me a bid he forgot to mention the $48/yard charge for using fabric not from them (bought some place else.) It wound up costing much less than a new one. Wound up a pretty (to some) custom couch.
FYI: What is the difference anyway? Couch & Sofa? Wikipedia, the trusted, says, "None."
A couch is an upholstered item of furniture for the comfortable seating of more than one person and typically has an armrest on either side.
A sofa is a piece of furniture also called a couch or Davenport
