Hey JT, in NYC,

[Mid-life crisis] I get it. Really get it.
The other day this guy insulted the needle books that I'm trying to sell on ETSY (Ugh. Long story.) Suggested that I'd sell them for, what?, $5.00 each. I'm thinking +$30.

Then a b*tchmom at ballet asked me if my GRANDDAUGHTER was in the class. I looked pretty damn hep that day too. She was sloppy & preggo but I wasn't going to be so classless as to ask her when she was due. Then, when she found out that darling M is my DAUGHTER she crassly said, "So, tell me about M. What's THAT on her head?" Young idiot.

At a party for the Chinese New Year every single conversation descended into yet another laundry list of C's heath issues. I kept excusing myself, finally just waiting in the car, big day the next day.

On Thursday, coming home from the hospital with C, I saw a huge billboard advertising Blue Oyster Cult! They are playing Wendover, NV. I am NO fan of BOC, nor Wendover, but suddenly it seemed like a great idea. Just get me outta here!

The 40's are rough. That feeling of relentlessly putting one foot in front of the other is wearing on the bones and soul. Greatness though, is wasted on the young and also not exclusively theirs. Keep writing. Keep loving. Keep moving forward.

ProjectTime

The idea behind ProjectTime is to hang out with clever women who do clever things for an evening. Usually everyone has something that they are working on/need to get to. Cool creations that involve needles (small and pointy or knitting), thread, yarn, glue, crochet hooks, scissors, buttons to sew, papers to sort, socks to sort... whatever. If you are completely caught up with everything in your life I can create a project for you or lend you ideas. Of course there is always my laundry that needs to be done. ;) The Beehive Bazaar is the first weekend in December and I'm gunning for it, making my whimsimobilia. Some of it I work on alone, other things are nice to have company for. ALSO: It gives me a touch of focus and a reason to clean up a bit. Bring a friend if you'd like!

L is for Landing.

Made this pen and gave it to C's scout leader who was in the hospital. I keep visiting the craft outlet for more birds but Noelle probably beat me to them! Sigh.

√ = LANDED/DONE. Marie Ricks says that projects have 3 parts: Launching, Doing and LANDING. Most people forget to land. They make a list, go to the grocery store and then don't get around to putting all the groceries away, all the way. {I'm guilty.} Since I finished the tops of the iSpy quilts I have been concentrating on Landing all the unfinished, uncleaned up piles around this house -- creative & business relics. Soon I hope to remove the Project List on the sidebar. Summer is a great time to Land.

√ Fix huge pile of clothes on chair. Marie Ricks says this is a good evening project: wind down/boring. Don't waste good daytime hours.

√ I Spy quilts for SKJNM. Assemble.

√ The New bathtub is ordered and installed, well, almost installed. Need to order a tub filler.

√ Garden tilled

√ M's Stick Horse!!! Her's is the one with the big white mane. Each child has one and there is one for a friend, made by a friend.

√ Messed with some BEEs! (reference to favorite movie the Point) We have a lovely bee hive. Now I have to land registering with the state.

This is J's pine wood derby car. An award winner, for style not so much for speed. Isn't it cool?

G is for a Garden Gate.

These pictures are from our recent, brief trip to Seattle on our way to Alaska. I went on a long walk and found this garden and met a very friendly gardener.
Loved the gate/fence. The conversation started when I took some pictures to remember how it was built.

P is for Pink car for Mlle. M's Preschool Project.

Need to write a list... C is out of town and I need to do the school project:
BUILD a CAR ---> transportation days at the school for the deaf, an excuse to go overboard. These projects are a combination of desperation, competition and guilt. They MUST be done. M-doll is really looking forward to it! It is all that she is talking about. I have been known to miss school on days that require too much parental involvement; I don't dig dressing up like a brown bear and dancing around. But other parents do! So then I wonder what is wrong with me? What is wrong with the system these days that requires SO much parental involvement... my folks, who are quite wonderful, NEVER did anything like this for my brother and me. It was a stretch to get picked up on time or go to an assembly.
