S is for smelly.

Today I was at an all day conference (Startup Princess). Outside someone was smoking and the smoke was blowing in, meanwhile inside on a table in the back someone was selling DoTerra (essential oils). I  thought  I  was going  to die. I felt sorry for the smoker, and the rest of us too!

Some recent stress has taken shape in my gut, which seems connected to my sense of smell.

N is for NO MO FB app on my phone.

H: Deleting the FB app off my phone. FB will still be on the 'puter, but since I loathe sitting in front of that thing, I'll be seeing a lot less FB and a lot less of the chicken whisper & other more snarky voices. Farewell.

    • M: Why not just pare down your friends list to those that really are and tighten up your settings so that only those friends can see/post. It's what I do.
      Monday at 12:20pm
    • H: Funny you wrote that Mickey. That is what my daughter did and believe it or not she has gotten some unwelcome grief for it. That is the direction I'm heading in though. (I'm glad I'm on your list!)
      Monday at 12:25pm
    • M: No problem with you on the list... What kind of unwelcome grief? If someone can't get it through their head that they were removed from your friends list because of the way they acted or things they said then they need to accept the responsibility of changing their behavior and if they don't get it then point it out to them. So far I have only had one person give me grief for cutting them off my friends list and I told them exactly why.

picture ommited.

SL [in SF, from Urban], you might not have any idea how much I dislike -HATE!- that woman ... thanks for the link. I was going to post this on your wall but then someone I know, a few real people that I (ME?!) know might read it and be offended. I shouldn't care but I'm not in a place where I can deal with crap from people. She is a self-promoting, sociopath. Evil in a tight suit, with ovaries to boot. During the election I would gag when she game on, especially if a man called her "hot" and even more especially if she was parading her "disabled" baby like a trophy. Sick to the core.

Actually! during a pretty routine blood pressure test someone mentioned her and my levels shot up. Next time I donated blood I had to bring comics with me to distract me, incase she crossed my mind.

21 July 2010

I want and need sleep but there are these kids ... and then visitors and laundry to be forgotten about and plans to be made and messes, that I made and others that others made, to be cleaned up. Will I ever be caught up and able to do the work I want to do?

I'm bidding Facebook farewell. If someone wants to get a hold of me they can. FB will find me.

B is for Burn, but not burnout.

I know that constantburnoutphase (yes, it is actually one word). It is something other than what you think it is -- the cause. It is not the camp, girls, weather, time, etc. and the only way out is not through... gotta find the source of the flame and figure out how to redirect it and put it under your butt. Thrive: pretty much anywhere, anytime.

Exercise is a big factor ... time for spin actually!

E is for ETSY

w is for WHiMSiMOBiLiA. Coming soon!

A is for Atelier disarray.

From Facebook, to Carrie DA V:
I love the disclaimer, "each frog is hand made and may vary." WHAT?! I want my dissected frog NOW! and I want THAT one! Also, Later this week probably wont work ... family monkey business. If I don't go tonight I'll see about next week. I've dismantled my studio--found legions of spools of ribbon, acres of envelopes and cargo containers full of cards. If they don't get boxed up soon they'll be destroyed! by little miss marauder Margo.

05 June 2010

Be here, and happy, now.

Why are people posting that they are sad? I've been told (a lot) recently that my life should a shambles, sheer dismay and woe; but I don't see it. I honestly feel that I need a gratitude mop to sop up all the goodness and sweets. If you are really, truly sad may I suggest buying a cruiser bike and ride it until it groans under you and you feel happy as you fly around in the sunshine? Try to be grateful for Your problems, you really don't want anyone else's.

07 May 2010

C is for CLAY play.

What is on my mind? Clay. Clay commission! Too excited to sleep. Read. Draw. Pray. Sleep. Remembering that first step across an elevated log? bridge? at a ropes course at the start of  my senior year in high school (before we left on a wee-bity hiking fiasco) being terrified, but taking the step, crossing that chasm. I keep telling S, the senior, just put one foot in front of the other and keep going (hopefully) in the right direction. I need to take my own advice.

Go on.

H:
True, I'm a dweeb. To just reply "like" on my iPhone seems so, ummm, so ... drab, blase, apathetic as a reply to, "can she do it? YES SHE CAN!!!" And, besides I do Like!, with glitter & dance music. :P

Wow. Geez. I hadn't heard that you broke BOTH of your legs! ~ That is THE project that I say I'm going to do when I break both my legs... however, modern medicine wouldn't allow that. C had his hip replaced and was walking within days. So, it's best to do it w/o added drama and pain. I'm VERY impressed.

RBC: Yes, I'm impressing myself. Be watching for random pics popping up on FB.

RBC:
Why are YOU up? I'm working on pictures.
H:
That will be cool. I'm Easter Bunny-ing. I actually have everything very organized but got distracted while trying to find a podcast/audio book to listen to while filling baskets and making fun tags. S(17) didn't come home until midnight. I had to wait ... she is hard to surprise. Although I did get her on the 1st with the fake grapes in the ziplock bag at lunch. :)

C (an erstwhile curmudgeon) was out of town for April Fools' Day ... I had Lots of fun. You can trust me, really. :]
The cottage cheese in the milk was a good trick. They didn't "get" it until the next morning. I'm still laughing about it. They are too. Once one of them poured the lumpy milk on their cereal, checked the smell, checked the expiration date, and yelled at me, they just waited for the next kid to. No one told anyone. The timing of breakfast/after school snack was perfect. Very funny.

M is for Motherhood.

I wrote this to a friend from SF about going to Career Day at my alma mater:

The deal is I'd like to talk about Motherhood as a career. I have an MFA in studio art and I've done all sorts of other things but my business card says, "Mother." Motherhood, pregnancy, delivery, children etc. got such a bad rap many of our peers avoided it, until it was too late and very difficult. SO MANY of my classmates gasp when they hear I have 5 children and then they say, I wish I had just One. I just got a FB message today from a beautiful woman I knew at Urban saying the same thing.
Maybe careers for women aren't stressed as much as they were when we were in school, at least not at the expense of Motherhood, but I wonder...
My decision to get married and have children was not solely based on my religion. My brilliant grandmothers taught me about the importance of motherhood, as did my mother who, though very independent, chose to stay at home--her mother always had to work, a lot. All three demonstrated the power of the hand that rocks the cradle. And, all three expressed at different times that they wish they had had more children. Hmmm, 5, these days, is kinda dicey...
If you think the school would be interested I'm happy to come to SF anytime! So good to hear from you! H

SF

On Tuesday, while walking by an extremely elegant hotel two extremely dapper gentlemen were walking out. The visual definition of refinement & taste. Debonair, with a capitol D. They were speaking beautiful Spanish. They were obviously brothers, possibly twins. One was all in white and grays, including his hair, eyebrows & mustache. The other was all black, charcoals & dark gray. The lighter brother's shirt had ruffles.
